Throughout its 50-year history, BB&N─and the Buckingham and Browne & Nichols Schools from which it evolved─has been distinguished by extraordinary teachers, coaches, and advisors. Often described by Head of School Jennifer Price as BB&N’s “secret sauce,” these include teachers in the classroom, on playing fields, in art studios, concert halls, on stage, on local, national, and international trips, and in the thousand other settings in which caring adults help open and shape curious young minds.
Among the challenges faced by BB&N at the time of the merger was bringing together and integrating the cultures, teaching methods, and strengths of faculty from Buckingham and Browne & Nichols, and developing ways to unite the three campuses’ faculty. Over the past 50 years, Heads of School and Boards of Trustees have consistently recognized the importance of faculty through a commitment to professional development opportunities, travel grants, and increased and more equitable salaries and benefits for both faculty and staff.
Starting in 1987, the Teacher of the Year honor has been awarded by members of the senior class to exceptional faculty. Since the mid-2000s, faculty have also been recognized with the awarding of Master Teacher Chairs and Future Leader Instructorships, established by donors during the Opening Minds Campaign.
While many faculty are acknowledged and pictured on other pages in this archival exhibit, the photo collage shared here represents just some of the many faculty who have transformed the lives of thousands of graduates, and who continue to do so for our 1,038 current students and those yet to come. To see faculty names, please scroll over each photo.
THANK YOU to all faculty, administrators, and staff who remain at the heart of BB&N—past, present, and future.
